Is 6th gear in a C5/C6 Corvette an overdrive gear?

Just curious. It seems like the Chevrolet Corvette is such an animal that it would be impossible to max out a 6th gear. Because you can easily go 100 mph in 3rd gear, I am wondering if 6th gear is an overdrive gear and not to be used for top speed?
